our Focus

Chapel Rock's primary purpose in missions is to evangelize the lost starting with the immediate community and extending to the ends of the earth. Through numerous missionaries and mission organizations, Chapel Rock ministers to people around the world. And, through many community outreach ministries Chapel Rock ministers to the whole person and to anyone willing to hear the gospel taught. Missions ministry serves the congregation by offering resources and experiences to enhance missions in the church.

  • To share Christ's heart for the world (Matthew 9:36-38)
  • To see men, women, and children saved and brought to knowledge of God (John 3:16, Romans 10:13-15)
  • To minister to the whole person within the scope of world evangelism
  • To educate and inspire the congregation in the field of world missions
  • To support, encourage, and evaluate all missionaries, and to communicate with them as to their physical and spiritual needs, both on a monthly and long-term basis

October 2020

Storms and tornadoes hit Nashville, Tennessee in March. In October, nine Chapel Rock members went to help rebuild homes under the direction of Samaritan’s Purse. The work involved removing old and installing new siding and insulation, constructing porch posts, stucco application, painting, caulking, foundation work, and site cleanup. The purpose was, and always is with Samaritan’s Purse, to share the love of Christ.

January/February 2020

Eleven men from Man-Up and Chapel Rock traveled to the Dominican Republic on a mission work trip from January 25 to February 11, specifically to the town of Jarabacoa, which is located up in the mountains. This is the third trip for the group to the Caribbean Mountain Academy, which is a behavioral boarding school for at-risk youth. While on campus the men worked on building a rock/concrete retaining wall so a parking lot could later be poured. Off campus work entailed building a room addition and remodel at a nearby church which will be used for local women to learn valuable skills to help them financially provide for their families. In addition to the hard work, the men led daily devotionals, readings, and testimonials with staff and students. The evening devotionals for the men were a time to share heartfelt God moments and reflect on the day. They also enjoyed a of couple nights where they led activities with the campus students, including flag football! The trip provided much spiritual growth for each member and the group encourages anyone who’s willing to step out of their comfort zone to go on a mission trip!

In mid-February, Dave Pound led a medical team to Honduras with Lifeline Christian Missions. The team typically travels to Haiti, but because of the strife in Haiti, most trips are on hold. The team enjoyed time visiting with the Lifeline staff and Honduran people in their churches, girls' home and medical clinics. It was interesting to see all the changes at Ocotillo and Gonzales since Dave was there about 28 years ago. The mission facilities at Cary Hill are quite nice and the main mission facility (kitchen, dining hall, meeting place) is still getting finishing touches. The Lifeline clinics were great and the medical team was able to serve a good number of people and had great interactions with the Honduran medical and dental staff.
